Ingredients:
•20 tea bags (black tea or your preferred variety)
•8 cups water
•1 cup local honey
•6 cups cold water
•1 Lemon
•1 Lime
•1 TB ginger root juice (instructions below)
Equipment:
•Large pot
•Pitcher (1-gallon capacity)
•Grater or zester
•Fresh ginger root
Instructions:
1. Prepare Ginger Root Juice:
•Peel a piece of fresh ginger root.
•Grate the peeled ginger using a grater or zester.
•Squeeze the grated ginger with your hand to extract approximately 1 tablespoon of ginger juice. Set aside.
2. Brew the Tea: •In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water to a rolling boil.
•Remove the pot from heat and add the tea bags. Steep for 3 minutes.
•Remove and discard the tea bags.
3. Sweeten with Honey: Stir in 1 cup of honey into the hot tea until fully melted and combined.
4. Add Citrus and Ginger: •Squeeze the juice from the lemon and lime into the tea.
•Add 1 TB of the freshly squeezed ginger root juice to the tea mixture.
5. Final Mixing:Pour 6 cups of cold water into the pot with the tea mixture. Stir well to ensure everything is thoroughly mixed.
6. Transfer to Pitcher: Carefully pour the prepared tea mixture into a 1-gallon capacity pitcher.
7. Chill and Serve:Place the pitcher in the refrigerator and allow the iced tea to chill for at least 2 hours.
8. Serve and Enjoy: When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice and pour the chilled Honey Citrus Ginger Iced Tea over the ice.
Note: You can garnish the glasses with lemon or lime slices for an extra touch of freshness.
