Truffles used to be a delicacy that only members of the royal family could afford to enjoy, but now they have become a mainstream ingredient beloved by gourmets around the world. Why are truffles so delicious? The answer to this question is that truffles are rich in umami, which can enhance the flavor of any dish. Often times, turkey burgers are dry, tasteless, and rubbery. Due to the intensity of the truffle and the addition of mayonnaise to the meat mixture, this recipe comes out moist and flavorful. This dish is the perfect treat for burger night!

Ingredients

Olive oil

1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 lb ground turkey

•3 tablespoons truffle mayonnaise*

1 tablespoon truffle hot sauce(optional)*

•Truffle salt and cracked black pepper(to taste)*

1 tsp olive oil

hamburger buns

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F

3. In a large nonstick pan sauté onions and garlic on medium-high heat with oil until soft.

4. Place the onions and garlic in a bowl and allow to cool together in the fridge.

5. Once the onions and garlic have cooled down to the point that they are no longer too hot to handle, combine the ground turkey, onions, garlic, truffle salt, truffle hot sauce, truffle mayonnaise, and cracked black pepper. Form into 4 even patties, weighing them to ensure proper distribution.

6. Place patties on a prepared baking sheet. Bake at 400°F on the middle rack for 10 minutes.

7. Remove from heat.

8. Preheat Broiler for 5 minutes.

9. Broil for 3 minutes or until patties start to brown and are cooked all the way through.

6. Toast the buns with a thin layer of truffle mayonnaise. Top with truffle hot sauce or your favorite condiments and burger toppings.

*Why do you put mayonnaise in the raw meat mixture? The mayo will keep the ground turkey moist and tender. Spreading a thin layer on the bun before toasting will give it a beautiful golden color and a little extra truffle flavor.
